Set up a CEU countdown for each credential

Choose RID, BEI, a state credential or your own numbers, check the cycle dates and requirements, and track several credentials at once. Free.

Each credential you renew gets its own countdown, built from its requirements: a total, plus any minimums and caps. OneTerp fills in starting numbers for RID, BEI, and a list of state and K-12 educational interpreter credentials, and every number is yours to change. Boards change their rules, so always confirm your requirements with your certifying body or state board. OneTerp is not affiliated with any of them.

Step by step

  1. 1Click "Home" in the sidebar, open the "CEUs" tab, then "My CEUs".
  2. 2The first time, you see "Know exactly how many CEUs you have left". Pick RID, BEI, or "Other / my own numbers", or choose your state under "Or a state credential". If your profile lists a RID or BEI credential, a suggestion appears with a "Use this" button.
  3. 3Check "Cycle starts" and "Cycle ends". RID cycles run in whole calendar years, so the start snaps to January 1. BEI runs from your own certificate date, and so do some state credentials. In states where every holder shares one window, any date inside your current cycle snaps back to the day it opened.
  4. 4For a few states, such as Hawaii and South Dakota, we could not confirm which years a cycle begins, so the form asks for the "Date your current cycle started". Enter the date from your certificate or your board's records, not today's date.
  5. 5Open "Requirements" to see the total and each minimum ("Min.") and cap ("Max."). Change any number to match what your board tells you. Where a rule has a detail OneTerp can't count, such as a carry-over allowance, it is written out underneath, next to a link to check the published rule.
  6. 6Optionally fill in "CEUs you've already earned this cycle", as one total or with "Split it by category (so minimums count)". Don't also log those CEUs one by one, or they count twice.
  7. 7Press "Start my countdown". Not ready yet? "Not now" hides the prompt for 30 days.
  8. 8Hold another credential, such as a state license? Click "+ Add another credential (like a state license)" and repeat. Each one gets its own card and its own math.
  9. 9To change a credential later, click Edit on its card. To stop tracking one, click Archive. Archived credentials are listed below your cards, where Restore brings one back.

Tips

  • The state list only includes states whose published rules we could read and quote, and some states have a separate K-12 educational interpreter credential listed on its own. If your state isn't there, use "Other / my own numbers".
  • A minimum is the least that must come from a category. A cap limits how much of a category counts toward the total; anything past it stays in your log but doesn't count.
  • Choosing a template copies its numbers into your own countdown. If a template is corrected later, your numbers don't move on their own, so check them against your board when you renew.
  • A CEU you log counts toward every credential whose cycle it falls in. When it could count for more than one, the log form shows "Counts toward" with a box for each; untick any credential it shouldn't count for.
  • Archiving keeps every CEU you logged. Only that credential's countdown stops.
  • If a cycle ended short and your board gave you an extension, edit the end date.
  • A cycle that hasn't begun yet shows "Starts in" and the number of days.
  • Setting up and tracking credentials is free, and your credentials are private: agencies you work with can't see them.
