Offer jobs vs. assign them directly

Turn on Offer Mode to send jobs as offers the interpreter must accept, instead of assigning them directly.

Normally a drop on the board assigns a job directly. With Offer Mode on, every drop instead sends an offer the interpreter can accept or decline, useful when you can't commit someone without their okay.

Step by step

  1. 1On the dispatch board toolbar, click "Offer Mode" to turn it on; a countdown starts.
  2. 2Drag a job chip onto an interpreter, instead of assigning, it sends them an offer.
  3. 3The interpreter gets a notification and email and can accept or decline.
  4. 4If they accept, the slot becomes confirmed; if they decline, the slot returns to Unassigned and you're notified.
  5. 5Click "Offer Mode" again to turn it off, or just let the countdown expire, it auto-disables so you don't leave it on by accident.

Tips

  • Offer Mode auto-turns-off after its countdown so you don't accidentally keep offering instead of assigning.
  • A declined offer reopens the slot and emails the job's creator plus notifies coordinators.
  • Open the slot's detail popup to see "Who we've asked", a history of everyone offered the job and whether they accepted, are awaiting a reply, or passed, so you don't re-offer to someone who already turned it down.
  • Placeholder interpreters can't be offered to, dropping on one in Offer Mode falls back to a direct assignment with a notice.
